Our Projects

    Our Projects

Practical aid, community development, and relief for communities in the Philippines, North Vietnam, and other developing nations.

PINOS Aid leads and supports a growing range of development and relief projects that put people first and projects second. Our focus is to serve communities in developing countries through practical assistance, long‑term community development, and targeted disaster response, with a strong heart for the Philippines and countries across the region.

Working in partnership with local leaders, churches, and community organisations, we aim to support people facing poverty, displacement, disaster, and long‑term disadvantage, so they can move from crisis towards stability, dignity, and hope.

    Philippine Indigenous Community Projects

Since 2015, PINOS Aid has been involved in community‑based projects among the Aytas (Aetas) of Zambales in the Philippines, one of the country’s indigenous peoples who have historically been marginalised and underserved. These projects are designed with local communities and leaders to respond to real needs in sustainable ways.

Our work with indigenous communities has focused on five key areas:

    • ✦ Education: supporting access to learning through school‑related assistance, informal learning activities, and opportunities for children and young people to pursue education as a pathway out of poverty.
    • ✦ Water: helping communities move toward safer and more reliable access to water where possible, and supporting education around hygiene and health.
    • ✦ Livelihood: encouraging community‑based livelihood initiatives and skills development that can help families generate income in a dignified and sustainable way.
    • ✦ Health: supporting basic health initiatives such as health education, simple medical outreach in partnership with local providers, and practical support to improve wellbeing.
    • ✦ Environment: promoting stewardship of the local environment, especially in rural and upland settings, and supporting activities that protect land, water, and community resources.

All of this work is led through community‑based programmes, relationship building, training, development, mentoring, and support groups, and is carried out in partnership with in‑country people and organisations.

    Itanglew Model Community Project

The Pinos Aid International Itanglew Model Community Project represents a more intensive, long‑term approach to community development. This model community concept focuses on walking alongside one community over time, rather than only making short, one‑off visits.

    The project aims to:

    • ▹ support holistic development across education, water, livelihood, health, and environment
    • ▹ strengthen local leadership and community decision‑making
    • ▹ encourage community‑owned solutions rather than externally imposed programmes
    • ▹ demonstrate what long‑term, faith‑inspired community development can look like when people, relationships, and dignity are placed at the centre

Although the details of this project continue to grow, the heart remains the same: to see a local community flourish over time through practical support, shared ownership, and hope‑filled partnership.

    Disaster & Relief Responses

The Philippines experiences frequent typhoons, flooding, and other natural disasters. PINOS Aid has participated in relief work in the Philippines, including actions following storms such as Tropical Depression Josie in July 2018, where widespread flooding caused loss of life and significant damage.

Through partnerships with local churches and community groups, relief efforts have included:

    • distribution of food, water, and basic supplies to affected families
    • assistance to communities in evacuation centres
    • practical support to help households begin recovery after floodwaters recede
    • ongoing encouragement and follow‑up where possible

Disaster response is always shaped in collaboration with local partners, who understand the context, culture, and most urgent needs on the ground.

North Vietnam Community Trip – Haiphong 2025

In 2025, PINOS Aid supported a North Vietnam trip to Haiphong, which is highlighted on the current PINOS Aid website as part of their “Where We Work” and home content. This trip brought together team members and local partners to encourage communities, build relationships, and explore opportunities for longer‑term support.

While the work in North Vietnam is still developing, the heart remains the same:

    • meeting people where they are
    • listening before acting
    • exploring ways to bring practical help, encouragement, and support in partnership with local leaders and churches

This trip reflects PINOS Aid’s desire to step beyond one country and respond to needs in other developing nations where relationships and opportunities open the door.

How we work across all projects

Across all our projects, whether in the Philippines, North Vietnam, or other developing countries, PINOS Aid follows a consistent, community‑based approach:

    Community‑based programmes

projects begin with listening to communities and understanding their priorities, not imposing external plans.

    Relationship building

long‑term relationships with local leaders, churches, and organisations are at the core of each project.

    Training & mentoring

we prioritise training, development, mentoring, and support groups so that communities are equipped to continue the work themselves.

    Partnerships

development and relief efforts are delivered in partnership with in‑country people, recognising their expertise, culture, and leadership.

This approach helps ensure that projects are not just short‑term events, but steps in a longer journey towards resilience, dignity, and community strength.

    Why these projects matter

Through these various projects and trips, PINOS Aid seeks to:

    ✓

stand with people who are often overlooked or underserved

    ✓

respond to both urgent crises and long‑term development needs

    ✓

create pathways for individuals, families, and communities to move toward stability and hope

    ✓

provide meaningful opportunities for volunteers, churches, and supporters to engage in overseas aid in a responsible, people‑centred way.

As an Australian‑based charity focused on overseas aid and international development, PINOS Aid is committed to stewarding resources well, amplifying local voices, and ensuring that every project honours the dignity of the people it serves.
